A 20-kilometer fitness path, the first of its kind in Shanxi province, was opened for use in Datong on Nov 11.

The colorful permeable asphalt path where residents can stroll, run, cycle, and roller skate consists of three parts – an 11-km walk around the east part of Yuhe River Ecological Park, a 3.2-km walk along the east bank of Yuhe River and a 5.8-km path along the west bank of Yuhe River.

Covered with environmental monitoring sensors and visitor traffic monitoring systems, the intelligent fitness walk is equipped with large screens, fitness stations and intelligent exercise facilities which can broadcast sports data, such as calorie consumption and exercise time, and transmit the data to a mobile app to help users make better exercise choices.
