NE China school book fair brings a ray of joy to kids

For anyone with an idle pile of books lying around at home just gathering dust, Wenmiao Primary School in the city of Changchun, Jilin province had a stimulating idea -- it asked students to gather up any unwanted books and bring them to share with classmates and enjoy some reading for World Reading Day, on April 22.
This particular book fair attracted 750 students from different grades who lugged in their used books and exchanged them with others who might be interested in them and in response, the headmaster, Chen Yue, remarked, "We hope our kids will understand the meaning of sharing and saving resources by exchanging books with others."
The playground outside saws kids sitting down on the grass concentrating on their newly obtained treasure, in the midst of all the bustle and hustle, because they just couldn't wait until they got home. One of the participants.
Qi Qi, of grade five, who brought six books to the fair and took away four and was quite satisfied with one of them -- Helen Keller's "Three Days to See" – had this to say, "I like the classics, and do it together with my mom. We talk a lot about the stories."
The 2-hour event found new owners for old books, and Chen concluded, "We hope the new owners can revive the stories and enjoy themselves.
