A forum on international e-commerce and transformation among small and medium-sized companies (SMEs), as part of the sixth APEC E-Commerce Business Alliance Forum (ECBA), took place on June 28 in Jinjiang, Fujian province.

More than 600 attendees shared their opinions on SME globalization through e-commerce networking, as manufacturing upgrading and Internet-based new business models spread across the world.

Among the attendees were Yao Guanghai, Party secretary of China International Electronic Commerce Center, Hu Yang, secretary-general of APEC E-Commerce Business Alliance, and Igor Subow, a Russian representative of APEC-ECBA.

Nearly 20 domestic e-commerce associations and companies signed an agreement for cooperation in cross-border e-commerce at the event. The agreement is expected to help form a market-oriented e-commerce ecosystem that offers equality and mutual benefit to all parts, according to industry insiders.

Hu Yang, secretary-general of APEC-ECBA, said that the problems and challenges encountered in the development of cross-border e-commerce can be solved through collaboration between business leaders, experts and policy makers.

Hu emphasized the importance of the involvement of SMEs for a healthy e-commerce industry to take shape.

According to Hu, Jinjiang is set to enjoy rich returns brought about by its future cooperation with APEC-ECBA, which is expected to deepen in the coming years.
