China's first all-electric passenger ship, Yujian 77, recently made its maiden voyage in Xiamen. With a length of 49 meters and a maximum passenger capacity of 358, the vessel adopts a pure electric propulsion system which is silent and emission-free.
The delivery and maiden voyage of the ship marks a breakthrough in China's development of all-electric propulsion technology for maritime passenger vessels. It sets an innovative example for the green and low-carbon transformation of port and shipping industries.
The vessel features a three-deck immersive thematic space, with its route connecting Xiamen landmarks including Gulangyu Island and Shimao Strait Tower. This innovative ship offers tourists an eco-friendly, tranquil, and comfortable coastal sightseeing experience.
The Xiamen Free Trade Zone facilitated the deployment of Xiamen's first new energy vessel by introducing financial leasing services through a special purpose vehicle (SPV) established with financial leasing companies, thereby providing comprehensive financial support for the project.
The Xiamen FTZ's ship leasing business has expanded to cover over 50 vessels of various types, including container ships, bulk carriers, and cruise ships. This has established an initial cluster providing end-to-end services in shipbuilding, financing, delivery, and operation.
