6 dead, 8 injured after crash on Shanxi road
Six people were killed and eight others injured after a semitrailer tractor collided with a minibus on Saturday in Shanxi province, local authorities said on Sunday. Traffic police raced to the scene of the accident, which occurred at around 1:55 pm on Saturday at an intersection in the city of Hejin. The crash is under investigation.
Shaolin Temple abbot under investigation
Shi Yongxin, abbot of the renowned Shaolin Temple in Henan province, is under investigation for alleged criminal offenses, including embezzling project funds and temple assets, according to a statement on the temple's official website on Sunday night. Authorities have also accused Shi of violating Buddhist precepts by maintaining improper relationships with multiple women and fathering at least one illegitimate child. A multidepartment probe is ongoing, with further updates to be released to the public in due course.
