Musical team takes educational trip to ancient village

Faculty members and students from the China Conservatory of Music staged a concert on July 8 at the ancient Hongcun village in Huangshan, Anhui province, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The team, comprising 22 teachers and students, conducted field trips in the region and visited the representative inheritors of the intangible cultural heritage dance form zhishan fengwu, which is characterized by female dancers performing with phoenix props.
In addition to observing the dancers' rehearsals and documenting their movements, the team studied the performance and created musical pieces to add string and flute harmonies to the original drumbeats. The team also provided the local children with art education courses.
A week later, the team performed the concert Moon Pond Music Night, in which they presented traditional and contemporary vocal and instrumental pieces.
