SCO foreign ministers council meeting to prepare for autumn summit

China's Foreign Ministry said on Monday that the Meeting of the Council of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Member States in Tianjin is aimed at preparing politically for the SCO Summit.
China holds the rotating presidency of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for the period 2024-2025 and will host the summit in Tianjin this autumn.
Addressing a daily news briefing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Lin Jian said Foreign Minister Wang Yi will preside over the upcoming meeting, where foreign ministers of member states will exchange views on cooperation in various fields within the SCO and discuss major international and regional issues, as well as sign a series of resolutions and documents.
China is willing to use this meeting as an opportunity to work with all parties to implement the important initiative of building a common home of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization featuring solidarity, mutual trust, peace, tranquility, prosperity, development, good-neighborliness, friendship, fairness and justice, Lin said.
The aim is to consolidate consensus, achieve more cooperative measures, ensure the success of the summit, and propel the SCO into a new stage of high-quality development, he added.
