An academic dialogue focusing on archaeology, history and cultural heritage in the context of climate change and green transition is set to be held in London on June 10, aiming to promote intercultural exchanges and contribute to the sustainable development of global cities.

Hosted by the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations, Fudan University and University College London, the dialogue will echo with the six-day event and program of "Our Water" Season 2: Flowing from Shanghai — Intercultural Dialogues Among World Cities.

The "Our Water" initiative aims to bring together global cities that share waterways and foster collaboration on addressing critical themes related to urban development, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.

Earlier this year, the Shanghai Federation of Social Science Associations gathered the city's returnee scholars in various sectors such as economy, politics, law, international relations and literature, to share their perspectives in enhancing academic ties and exchanges between Shanghai and London.

To better cater to their demand and showcase the global outlook of Shanghai's academics as well, the upcoming dialogue will give the floor to researchers and scholars from top universities, enabling them to share ideas and explore deep into the diverse academic sectors for further collaboration between the two cities and nations.

Shanghai has been a major cradle of philosophy and social science and has fostered a large number of notable scholars. Many of them have made outstanding contribution to intercultural exchanges between China and the United Kingdom, including biographer Zhu Dongrun, political scientist Wang Zaoshi, economist Hu Jichuang and English lexicographer Lu Gusun.

At the event's opening ceremony, a new season series of documentary spotlighting the life path of social science masters will also be unveiled to mark their achievements and contributions.

In addition, with a focus on "zero-carbon waterfronts and urban renewal", the dialogue will bring together top interdisciplinary experts and scholars to discuss key topics such as waterfront city development, cultural heritage protection and harmonious development of ecology and humanities.
