The highly anticipated Asia's 50 Best Restaurants 2025 awards ceremony took place on Tuesday in Seoul, South Korea, shining the light on some of the region's most exceptional dining establishments. Chinese cuisine had a strong impact on this year's rankings, reaffirming its influence on Asia's culinary scene.

The prestigious list is compiled by the Asia's 50 Best Restaurants Academy, an influential panel of around 350 industry leaders, including food critics, chefs, restaurateurs and culinary experts.

"This year's ranking is a remarkable tapestry of dining establishments in 16 cities, with seven new entries showcasing the exceptional talent and innovative spirit that define Asia's culinary landscape," said William Drew, director of content at Asia's 50 Best Restaurants.

At the top of the list, Bangkok's Gaggan, known for its progressive Indian cuisine with international influences, claimed the coveted title of The Best Restaurant in Asia.

Hong Kong continued to dominate the list with seven entries, led by The Chairman (No 2), which redefines contemporary Cantonese cuisine with its ingredient-driven approach. Wing (No 3) followed close behind, with chef-owner Vicky Cheng also earning the prestigious Inedit Damm Chefs' Choice Award.

In Macao, Chef Tam's Seasons soared 40 spots to No 9, earning the Highest Climber Award and retaining its title as Best Restaurant in Macao for the second consecutive year. Located in an opulent setting in Wynn Palace, Executive Chef Tam Kwok Fung is known for refined Cantonese cuisine made using the finest seasonal ingredients.

Shanghai secured four entries, led by Meet the Bund (No 14), which climbed 36 spots and was named Best Restaurant in the Chinese mainland. Other notable Shanghai establishments include Fu He Hui (No 15), Ling Long (No 27), and 102 House (No 29), the latter known for chef Xu Jingye's inventive take on Cantonese banquet traditions using seasonal, locally sourced ingredients.

Beijing had a new entry this year with Lamdre (No 50), winner of the American Express One To Watch Award 2024. Located in Sanlitun, Lamdre is celebrated for its innovative approach to plant-based cuisine that blends Chinese heritage with minimalist aesthetics in a tranquil dining experience.
