The 15th Shanghai Cherry Blossom Festival will be held at Gucun Park from March 15 to April 15, featuring a new nighttime cherry blossom viewing experience. According to the organizing committee, the festival is expected to attract over one million visitors and boost local consumption by more than 15 percent.

This year, the cherry blossom planting area was expanded to over 1,600 acres, with 120 varieties and more than 16,000 trees.

Hosted by Shanghai Wusongkou Culture Tourism Investment (Group) Co Ltd and co-guided by the Shanghai Landscaping and City Appearance Administrative Bureau, Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, and the local government of Baoshan district, 12 themed activities will be launched during the festival, covering tourism, culture, sports, commerce and cruises.

For the first time, a nighttime cherry blossom viewing activity will be introduced at the approximately 160,000-square-meter island near Gate No 2 of Gucun Park, featuring day and night activities enhanced by light and shadow effects. Meanwhile, it will include a cosplay stage, traditional Chinese-style markets, and a night stay package at Hengshan Beijiao Hotel, offering visitors a dual experience of daytime blossom viewing and nighttime scenic tours.

In addition, events like the Women's 10-kilometer Elite Race and Bilibili Cherry Blossom Festival IP collaboration will also be launched to further enhance the festival's brand influence.

Tickets for the festival will be priced at 20 yuan per person, with discounts available for military personnel, the elderly and people with disabilities. Separate tickets will be required for the nighttime cherry blossom event.

Transportation services around Gucun Park will be upgraded during the festival. The local transportation bureau will increase bus frequencies, launch custom bus services and optimize subway capacity to ensure convenient travel, while the district public security bureau has also developed a detailed traffic plan to ensure smooth and safe traffic flow during the festival.
