Shanghai reports 47 new COVID-19 cases

Shanghai reported three new local confirmed COVID-19 cases and 44 asymptomatic infections on Wednesday, according to the city's health commission.
One confirmed case and one asymptomatic infection were found outside quarantined populations.
Fourteen buildings and neighborhoods were added to the city's list of medium-risk zones, which now has 54 zones. Authorities have also designated one area as a high-risk zone.
Shanghai has been experiencing a rebound in new local infections since the National Day Holiday. Most of the cases are inbound visitors or residents returning from outside the city. The majorities of new infections are young individuals who often visit places such as shopping malls, entertainment venues, hotels, schools, restaurants and bars, said the health commission.
The commission has urged residents to enforce epidemic control measures and to scan site codes to aid epidemiological tracing, which is essential to breaking the transmission of the virus.
