Human resource departments putting in effort to resolve labor shortfalls

Human resources authorities are making great efforts to meet labor demands of companies closely related to disease prevention and control work and people's daily life, a senior official said on Wednesday.
Easing personnel shortages at companies has been made a priority in the work of the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security and all-level human resources departments, Song Xin, deputy director of the ministry's employment promotion department, said at a news conference.
Commissioners have been designated to survey companies' demand for workforces and mobilize migrant workers and villagers in the countryside, he said.
So far, the ministry has helped mobilize about 103,000 workers for more than 2,600 companies troubled with staff shortages, he said.
"For example, when the human resources department of Xinxiang city of Henan province received recruitment requests from some local companies, they soon organized a meeting on the same day and mobilized over 2,600 workers," Song said.
He said human resources authorities have also updated companies' recruitment requirements at some State-run public services and social recruitment platforms to make information more accessible to workers.
Personnel mobilization among companies and regions has been encouraged to resolve the labor imbalance. Also, some private human resources agencies have joined efforts to help mobilize and arrange workers for companies producing medical and daily supplies, he said.
"In Zhejiang province, 300-plus private human resources companies - in addition to public human resources departments - are offering free services to businesses that lack workers," Song said.
Preferential policies are important to help lure workers, he added.
"The ministry has opened free online training courses focusing on some professions short of workers," he said. "Local governments are also offering subsidies and allowance to companies and businesses that bring back their employees by charter bus."
