Industry leaders from all over the world have taken the ongoing China International Import Expo as the ideal platform to release their most up-to-date products and technologies.

Massachusetts-headquartered biotechnology company Thermo Fisher Scientific released on the fourth day of the second CIIE its Ion Torrent Genexus System, a specimen-to-report next-generation sequencing (NGS) platform. Vincent Shu, senior sales director of Thermo Fisher China, said the platform can provide genomic testing results for acute and severe diseases such as lung cancer in a single day. Before that, it would take at least one month to get the results.

After its release at the CIIE, the machine will enter the certificate application procedure in the Chinese market, the company said. All the test reagents developed by Thermo Fisher can be used on the machine. With the machine released to the world at the same time, China will be given priority in using the equipment, said Shu.

"What we are releasing here today is not simply a machine, but rather the commitment to patients here. The machine is able to provide the most accurate results within the shortest time. With this, doctors can provide diagnosis and suggestions more efficiently," he said.

German third-party testing, inspection and certification organization TUV Rheinland introduced to the Chinese market via this CIIE its industrial and home waste disposal testing unit. It is an important step that TUV has started to help with the development of circular economy in China, which is gaining increasing recognition over the past few years, said the company's managing director Lutz Frankholz.

Dutch multinational conglomerate Philips N.V. released its two latest major technological breakthroughs on Friday. The company released its next generation image-guided therapy platform named Azurion. With much improved image quality and navigation software, the platform can reduce X-ray usage, save doctors' time and improve patient care.
