According to Chinese feng shui theory, the color is the sign of the element "water", which can bring fortune to people who want to make more money.
In the Qin Dynasty (221-206 BC), black was the signature color. It was the royal choice, and the hue of special costumes for both emperors and nobles.
Mount Lishan, where the tomb of Qin Shi Huang (the first emperor of the Qin Dynasty) is located, was chosen based on this color tradition, as the character "li" in "Lishan" means "black horse" in Mandarin.
